Who this is between
These terms are between you and Gain United, a strength and conditioning gym operating at Ashcombe. Where they say we, that means Gain United. Where they say you, that means the person training with us.
Membership
Membership runs month to month from the date you join and is billed on the same date each month. There is no joining fee and no minimum term. You are not signing up for a year.
Prices are published on the membership page. If we change them, existing members are told at least one full month before it affects their payments.
Pausing
You can pause your membership for up to three months in a row, twice in any twelve month period. Tell us before your next billing date and nothing will be taken. Nothing is charged while a pause is on and your place is held for you.
Cancelling
Email us and the payment stops. There is no notice period beyond the month you have already paid for, no cancellation fee, and no conversation you have to sit through. You keep access until the end of the month you have paid for. Payments already taken for the current month are not refunded, since the sessions remain available to you.
We can end a membership too, and would only do so for behaviour that makes the floor unpleasant or unsafe for other people. In that case we refund the unused part of the month.
Booking sessions
Every session is capped, so sessions are booked rather than turned up to. Booking opens one week ahead.
If you cannot make a session, please cancel it so somebody else can have the place. We do not charge for missed sessions. If somebody repeatedly books and does not attend, we will have a quiet word, because the places are genuinely limited.
Blocks of one to one sessions do not expire.
Health, and what we are not
We are strength coaches. We are not doctors, physiotherapists or dietitians. We do not diagnose injuries, we do not treat them, and nothing we say is medical advice.
You agree to tell us about any injury, condition, medication or pregnancy that could affect how you should train, and to tell us when it changes. We will keep that between us and use it to programme sensibly. If you are under the care of a clinician, we will work to their advice.
You also agree to follow the coaching you are given, to stop a set if something hurts in a way that worries you, and to say so at the time rather than afterwards.
On the floor
Put the weights back where they came from, wipe down what you have sweated on, and leave the place as you would like to find it. Be decent to the people training next to you. That is the whole code of conduct and it has not needed enforcing often.
Photography and filming are fine for your own lifts. Please do not film other people without asking them first.
Age
Our minimum age is sixteen. Sixteen and seventeen year olds train one to one with written consent from a parent or guardian, and not in the group sessions.
Your belongings
There are lockers and you are welcome to bring a padlock. We cannot accept responsibility for anything left in the building or in the yard, so please do not leave anything valuable in either.
Closures and changes to the timetable
We close on bank holidays and for a week over Christmas, and we give as much notice as we can. If a coach is ill, a session may be covered by one of the others or cancelled, and anyone booked in will be told directly. If we ever had to close for more than a week, memberships would be paused and nobody would be billed for a period they could not train in.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Beyond that, we are not liable for loss or damage that was not a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms.
Strength training carries some inherent risk, as any physical activity does. We manage that with small groups, coached sessions and sensible loading, which is most of what this gym is for.
Changes to these terms
If we change them, we will change the date at the top and tell members by email if the change matters. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Questions
Email hello@gainunited.com and ask. We would much rather explain a clause than have you agree to something you were unsure about.
